Naresh Thapa has been arrested for allegedly being involved in collecting the ransom along with the chief accused of a rape case in the capital two years ago. He is the Saila brother of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa. Sharad Kumar Gauchan, president of the Federation of Nepalese Construction Entrepreneurs, was on his way home from the house on October 2, 2012, and was taken to Shantinagar after he was defeated by Go Lee. He was arrested three months later by the Central Investigation Bureau of Police (CIB) from India. Police claim that Naresh has been linked with the same person.
The CIB last week arrested its accomplices Pawan Khandaka and Soren Nagarkoti last week after receiving information that Sameer, who was in the Central Jail at Sundara, was speeding up the collection of custody from inside the jail. According to a high police source, the two men, who were assigned by Sameer to the collection of pharaohs, were arrested and the Home Minister’s brother Naresh was dragged into the investigation.
